Missouri River Otters News Release
A five-goal second period propelled the Fort Wayne Komets to a 8-2 victory against the Missouri River Otters Tuesday night at the Savvis Center. The win gave the Komets a 3-0 lead in their best-of-seven series.
Fort Wayne netted the game's first goal when Chris Grenville slammed home the rebound of a Steve Rodberg shot. The first power-play goal of the series came eight minutes later when Justin Quenneville rifled a rebound behind Kevin St. Pierre to tie the game at one. The Komets took a 2-1 lead, however, when Colin Chaulk took a great pass from Jonathan Goodwin and beat Jason Tapp with a low shot. Fort Wayne dominated the second period, scoring five goals. P.C. Druin scored two, while Steve Rodberg, Dustin Virag, and Sean Venedam added one apiece. The Komets struck first in the third period when Goodwin took a Chaulk pass and buried it behind Tapp. Barrie Moore scored a goal halfway through the final period, but it wasn't enough and the River Otters lost 8-2. St. Pierre made 18 saves for his third victory of the playoffs.
Game Four is set for Wednesday night at the Savvis Center. The puck drops at 7:00 CDT, and all the action can be heard on KSLQ 104.5 FM and the B2 Webcast at www.riverotters.com.
