Mallards Win Game Three Over Muskegon

Moline, IL- The Mallards beat the Muskegon Fury 2-1 at The MARK on Tuesday to take a two games to one lead over the regular season champions in their best-of-seven quarterfinal series. Game Four is at The MARK on Friday.

After a scoreless first period, the Mallards fell behind 1-0 on a power-play goal by Muskegon's Scott Hollis. Hollis' goal was assisted by Todd Robinson and Jeff Nelson.

Three minutes after Hollis' marker, the Mallards tied the game on an even strength goal by Marty Standish. The marker was the third of the post-season for Standish.

With 1:54 left in the second, the Mallards took the lead for first time on the night. Jason Deskins scored during a 4-on-3 Mallards man advantage. Deskins' goal was assisted by Jamie Thompson and Mallards netminder Robert Gherson.

In earning his second playoff victory, Gherson stopped 27 of 28 Muskegon shots. The Fury had nine power-play opportunities on the night. The Mallards penalty killers managed to thwart the league's best power play on eight of those chances.
