Komets Complete Deal for Bruijsten at Trade Deadline

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets made a deal with the Stockton Thunder prior to Thursday's 3pm trade deadline acquiring forward Mitch Bruijsten in exchange for future considerations.

Bruijsten (BREW-stenn), 24, started the season skating 20 games with Mississippi of the SPHL before making his ECHL debut with the Thunder appearing in 26 games scoring six goals and adding 15 assists for 21 points in 26 games.

After finishing a three-year college career in the WCHA with the University of Alaska-Anchorage in 2011-12, Bruijsten represented his native Netherlands by appearing with the Dutch National Team winning the Bronze Medal in World Championship play two consecutive years, 2012 and 2013.

In an additional player announcement today, forward Dean Ouellet has been placed on 21-day injured reserve, effective March 9.

Everblades in town this weekend-- This weekend the Komets will host Florida for a pair of games at the Memorial Coliseum beginning Friday at 8pm. The Komets will complete the home double-header Saturday night when they faceoff against the Everblades at 7:30. Sunday the Komets will cap the busy weekend with a 5:15pm faceoff against the Walleye at Toledo at 5:15pm.

Wearin' o' the green-- The Komets will be wearing green St. Patty's Day Jerseys for both games this weekend when they host the Florida Everblades Friday and Saturday. Fans will have chances to win the green game-worn sweaters. Raffle tickets will be sold during both games.
