Road Warriors Roll Past Gwinnett 4-2

Greenville, SC: Andrew Yogan and Sean Berkstresser scored in the third period to guide the Road Warriors to a 4-2 win over Gwinnett on Thursday night.

Seven minutes into the first period, Lindsay Sparks gave the Road Warriors a 1-0 lead after cutting in front of the net and sinking in a pass from Jordie Johnston into the net. It was Sparks' seventh goal of the season and Emerson Clark was awarded the secondary assist. With two minutes left in the period, Will MacDonald tied the game at one for his fourth goal of the year. Joey Haddad and Maxime Legault assisted on the goal. The period ended tied with the Road Warriors outshooting Gwinnett 11-7.

The second period began with Michael St. Croix scoring 2:12 into the period by redirecting a shot from Ryan Hegarty past Mark Guggenberger for his 15th goal of the season. Two minutes later, Gwinnett responded when Marshall Everson found a loose puck and scored on Jason Missiaen to tie the game again. It was his 16th goal of the year and Eriks Sevcenko and Casey Pierro-Zabotel got the assists. Greenville ended the period outshooting Gwinnett 18-8 and the score tied at two.

The Road Warriors started the third period scoring just 1:22 in after Yogan tipped in a pass from Josh Nicholls. It was his first goal this year with Greenville and it increased Nicholls' point streak to ten games. Sam Noreau got the secondary assist and the Road Warriors went up 3-2. At 11:01 Berkstresser tipped in a shot from Johnston to increase Greenville's lead to 4-2. It was his seventh goal of the year and his second on home ice. Missiaen held off all of Gwinnett's 18 chances in the third to help the Road Warriors defeated the Gladiators 4-2. Missiaen improved his record to 11-4-1 with 31 saves.

The Road Warriors are back in action Sunday at 3 p.m. when they host intrastate rivals the South Carolina Stingrays. Sunday is Family Fun Day! Young fans can enjoy a $5 Kids Meal during the game which includes a hot dog, bag of chips and a small soda. Fans can also skate with their favorite Road Warriors players after the game!

The playoff push is on! The Warriors need Greenville to Bleed Blue! Join the Road Warriors on Saturday, March 22nd for Clemson Night. March 22nd is also Youth Sports Night presented by Bon Secours St. Francis Health System! The Road Warriors will be wearing Clemson themed specialty jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game to benefit the Glenn Brackin Memorial Scholarship. As a part of the Youth Sports Night festivities, the Road Warriors will celebrate the young athletes in our community and recognize their accomplishments. Clemson fans can meet former Clemson athletes and the Clemson Tiger, spirit squads and alumni band will be at the game! The first 1000 fans 12 and under will receive a Road Warriors Youth Cap presented by 92.5 WESC.
