
Aces Assigned Goaltender Connor Knapp from the Buffalo Sabres

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces announced today that goaltender Connor Knapp ("NAPP") has been assigned to the team by the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League and the Aces have acquired future considerations from the Evansville IceMen in exchange for goaltender Alex Kangas.
Knapp, 23, will wear jersey #1 and join the Aces in time for their next game tonight at 7:15 p.m. (GCI/KFQD) against the Colorado Eagles, opening a three game series at Sullivan Arena.
The 6-foot-6, 225-pound goaltender was previously assigned by Buffalo to the Florida Everblades and is 9-12-5 with one shutout, a .918 save percentage and 2.61 goals-against-average in 27 games this season with Florida and Greenville.
Knapp earned ECHL Goaltender of the Week honors (Dec. 16-22) this season with Greenville, ahead of runners up Laurent Brossoit (Bakersfield), Reading's Riley Gill (2014 Kelly Cup Playoffs MVP) and Jordan Binnington (Kalamazoo) with a 2-0 record and .951 save percentage.
The native of York, N.Y. also spent seven games with the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League last season and was 1-6-0 with a 3.34 goals-against-average and .893 save percentage. His college career was spent with Miami Univ. (Ohio) for four seasons which included the program's back-to-back appearances in the NCAA Frozen Four.
He earned the CCHA Best Goaltender Award as a 2011-12 senior, when he posted a league best 1.41 goals-against-average (4th, NCAA) which was fifth best in CCHA history.
Knapp was 46-22-11 with a 1.94 goals-against-average, 13 shutouts, and .918 save percentage in 84 career games at Miami of Ohio.
Kangas went 2-2-2 with a .880 save percentage and 2.82 goals-against-average in seven games this season with Alaska.
