Komets and INC Team up for Weekly TV Show

Fort Wayne, IN -- The Komets, along with Indiana's NewsCenter and title sponsor PHP announced Thursday that "INC Soundoff with the Komets", a new weekly sports program, will begin airing on Monday nights at 7:30 on WPTA TV 21 Alive beginning Oct. 10th.
Komet President Michael Franke is scheduled as a special guest on tonight's "Indiana's NewsCenter at 5" to officially announce the partnership.
"A storied franchise with deep roots in the community, a loyal and passionate fan base plus an avenue to expand our already market-leading local sports presence; We're definitely looking forward to this milestone season-long partnership," said INC President and General Manager Jerry Giesler. "This is a big win-win for all involved."
The show will be aired live from Wrigley Field Bar and Grill each week with INC's Tommy Schoegler featuring a Komet player or coach as co-host during the half-hour program. The show will also feature highlights, interviews, call-ins and special segments.
"We want an entertaining show that goes way beyond highlights," Schoegler said. "The caller and fan interaction is far and away the best aspects of Soundoff. With players and coaches every week I know we'll hear from Komet fanatics everywhere."
This weekly format will give us a chance to provide a level of insight into Komet Hockey that is long overdue for our fans," said Executive Vice President and co-owner Scott Sproat. "We're excited and we thank INC for recognizing the opportunity and demand for the show as part of our upcoming 60th anniversary season. Their reputation for coverage of Fort Wayne sports made 21 Alive a logical media partner for the show."
The 60th anniversay season of Komet Hockey opens Saturday, Oct. 22 against the Evansville IceMen at the Memorial Coliseum at 7:30pm. The Komets will also skate two tune-ups beginning on the road at Dayton Friday, Oct. 14 at 7:30pm at Hara Arena. The Komets and Gems faceoff in preseason action at the Memorial Coliseum Sunday, Oct. 16 at 5pm for the final preseason match of the preseason.
Season tickets for the 2011-12 campaign are on sale at the Komet office at 1010 Memorial Way in Fort Wayne. Single game tickets will go on sale Friday, Oct. 23 at 10am at the Coliseum Ticket Office and online at TicketMaster.com.
