Komets add Virag and Stewart to lineup

Fort Wayne, IN - The Komets announced today that wingers Dustin Virag and Blake Stewart have agreed to terms for the 2005-06 campaign. The addition of the 2 skaters brings the Fort Wayne roster to a dozen players signed, all returnees from last season.

Virag, 29, will be skating his 5th season in Fort Wayne since beginning his pro career with the Komets in 2001. With the exception of playing 1 game with St. John in the AHL in 2000-01, Virag has played his entire career in Fort Wayne scoring 89 goals to become the Komet's all-time leading UHL goal-scorer. The Campden, Ontario native led Fort Wayne rookies in his first season of pro play (2001-02) with 19 goals, 15 assists and 34 points and was a member of the 2002-03 Colonial Cup Champion Komets. Last season Virag scored 20 goals, 51 points and 70 penalty minutes in 76 regular season games. In the post season Virag tallied a team 2nd-best 7 goals and 8 points while skating all 18 playoff games.

Stewart, 21, will be returning to the Komets for his 2nd tour after appearing in 25 games last season posting 3 goals, 5 points and 20 penalty minutes. The Roselle, Illinois native appeared in 9 Komet playoff games netting 4 goals and 5 points. Stewart began last season skating 8 games at Rockford before joining the Komets Dec. 31. The rookie winger skated 2 seasons with Merrimack College NCAA before turning pro last year.

Today's addition of 2 skaters brings the Komet roster to a total of 12 players inked for the upcoming season. Previously announced as returning to the Komet fold are forwards Colin Chaulk, P.C. Drouin, Danny Stewart, Mike Wiggins, Jonathan Goodwin, David Hukalo and Jeff Worlton along with defensemen Troy Neumeier and Rob Guinn and veteran goaltender Kevin St. Pierre.

2005-06 Season Tickets on Sale.....season tickets for the Komet's 2005-06 season are on sale at the Komet office at 1010 Memorial Way in Fort Wayne.
