Adirondack Frostbite News Release
Glens Falls, NY - The Adirondack Frostbite, member of the United Hockey League (UHL), today signed rookie defenseman Chris Mei to a standard player contract, it was announced by Frostbite Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Marc Potvin. This will be Mei's first full professional season, after attending Dalhousie University. As per team policy, terms of the agreement are not being disclosed.
Mei, 26, spent the 2000-01 season skating for Dalhousie University, where in 17 games he tallied four assists and six penalty minutes. For the past four years Mei has spent time away from collegiate, junior and professional hockey for personal reasons.
"This is an unique case in that Chris spent time away from the game because of personal reasons and had dropped off the hockey radar," said Potvin. "I think because of this absence, Chris has found a new passion for the game of hockey. He has outstanding skill and size and will be a great first year player for the Frostbite."
Mei is the first player invited to the Frostbite's training camp for the 2005-06 season. More players are expected to be announced over the next few weeks.
