
Komet President Michael Franke named IHL Executive of the Year

Fort Wayne, IN - The IHL announced Wednesday that Komet President Michael Franke has been named the league's Executive of the Year for the second consecutive season. As President of the Komets, Franke oversees the day-to-day operations of the Fort Wayne hockey franchise while also serving as Fort Wayne's Governor and the IHL's Chairman of the Board.
During Franke's 19-year stint as President, the Komets have collected three league championships, four regular season titles and six trips to the playoff finals. The Komets have been the league Member Club of the Year five times and have been the leader in attendance for the past seven consecutive seasons attracting over 7,000 fans per game each year.
Franke has served as President and co-owner of the Komets since the Franke Family purchased the Fort Wayne Komet Hockey Club in the summer of 1990.
A 1982 graduate of Purdue University Fort Wayne, Franke resides in Fort Wayne with his wife Theresa and their two children, Katie and James.
