Bloomington erases a nine game skid

FLINT, Mich. - Jon Booras scored two goals to set the record for goals in a single season and help the Bloomington PrairieThunder snap a nine-game losing streak with a 6-5 victory over Flint in International Hockey League action Wednesday at Perani Events Center.

Booras moved his goals scored mark to 40 to break the record of 38, which was set last season by Don Parsons. Booras also had two assists to give him 96 points. Rookie Bill Bagron was instrumental in the victory with four assists.

Bloomington's record improved to 28-35-2-5 record (63 points). Flint's record dropped to 19-45-2-5 (45 points). The PrairieThunder returns to action Friday with a 7:05 p.m. game at home against league-leading Fort Wayne.

The PrairieThunder scored three of its goals in the first six minutes of the game. Adam Tomkow started the spree with a goal 1:27 into the first period. He was assisted by Brent Clarke and Paul Holder.

Booras scored his first goal of the game two minutes later on assists by Bill Bagron and Russ Smith on a power play. Brett Holmberg scored two minutes on assists by Bagron and Booras for a 3-0 advantage.

Mike Podelnyk scored for Flint with 4:24 remaining in the period off assists from Joel Gasper and Zach Pearson. Booras countered with his second of the game with 2:31 left in the period off assists by Holmberg and Bagron.

Jason Lepine and Mike Kusy scored goals in the second period to extend the Bloomington lead

to 6-2. Lepine's goal came on a power play at the 18:51 mark on a power play. Bagron and Booras had the asssits.

Kusy scored a power play goal with 11:23 left in the period on assists by Corey Rutt and Holder. Zach Pearson scored Flint's lone goal of the period.

The Generals stormed back with three goals in the third period by Alex Lamontagne, Jay Holladay and Pearson, but the PrarieThunder held on for the win.

Jason Wolfe earned the win in net for Bloomington by stopping 36 of 41 shots. Flint had a 41-35 advantage in shots on goal.

The PrairieThunder was without veteran forward Jan Jas for its second straight game. Jas' future father-in-law died on Tuesday.
