
Kofler leads Redhawks past Railcats with solo home run

*FARGO, N.D. *- Fargo-Moorhead collected six hits on the night but only needed one as Eric Kofler hit his league-leading fifth home run of the season to put the RedHawks on the board as they defeated the Gary SouthShore RailCats, 4-0, in front of 2,292 at Newman Outdoor Field on Wednesday.
The game was scoreless through six and a half frames as both starting pitchers battled for the win. Brandon Goltz went 6.0 innings for Fargo-Moorhead and left the game after allowing just five hits. Willie Glen got the start for the RailCats and was credited with the loss after throwing 7.0 innings. Glen allowed just three hits but one was a home run to Kofler that proved to be the winning run.
The RedHawks tacked on three more runs in the bottom of the eighth inning as they combined to hit a single, double triple. All of the hits were off of Kris Regas who came in to relieve Glen. In his third of an inning, Regas gave up three earned runs on three hits.
With the win Fargo-Moorhead earned its third straight series win and improved their overall record to 10-3 on the season. The win was credited to Josh Gray (1-0, 0.00) who pitched 1.0 inning in relief and allowed no runs or hits and struck out two batters.
The âHawks will wrap up their current four-game set with the RailCats (3-10) on Thursday in their first Business Day Special of the year. Todd George (1-0, 1.38) is set to take the mound for Fargo-Moorhead and will face the RailCats' Josh Habel (1-1, 5.02). The first pitch is scheduled for 12:35 p.m. as the RedHawks close out their seven-game homestand before heading to Kansas City on Friday.
