Mobile BayBears News Release

PENSACOLA, FL - The Mobile BayBears (34-30, 68-65) picked up their 12th shutout of 2015 with a 3-0 win over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (36-30, 61-73) on Thursday Night at Pensacola Bayfront Stadium.

With the win, Mobile sits just a game back of the Blue Wahoos for first in the Southern League South Division Standings. Mobile still can make the playoffs depending on the outcome of the series in Pensacola and the M-Braves final five games at Jacksonville. There are just four games left in the 2015 regular season.

RHP Matt Koch (1-0) made his BayBears debut after being acquired in the trade that sent Diamondbacks' RHP Addison Reed to the New York Mets last weekend. The righty tossed 7.1 shutout innings, allowing just two hits, walking four and striking out six batters to carry the BayBears to victory.

Mark Thomas drove in all three runs for Mobile in the top of the fourth inning. With the bases loaded and one out, Thomas powered a three-run, bases-clearing double to left to give the BayBears the 3-0 lead.

RHP Jake Barrett eared his fourth save of the season after entering the game in the bottom of the eighth inning with the bases loaded and recording the final out in the frame and then retiring the side in the ninth inning.
