
Knotek named Mooseheads' Captain

Nineteen-year-old Tomas Knotek will wear the Captain's "C" for the 2009-2010 season, Halifax Mooseheads' Head Coach/General Manager Cam Russell confirmed today.
Knotek, the Mooseheads' round 1, #6, selection in the 2007 CHL Import Draft, is entering his third season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. In 122 games, all with Halifax, Knotek has amassed 117 points, from 44 goals and 73 assists, while adding 3 goals and 4 assists in 13 playoff games.
Knotek was named to the QMJHL's All-Rookie Team in 2007-08 and was chosen the Halifax's Mooseheads Most Valuable Player last season and also won the Fan's Choice Award. He was invited to the 2009 Minnesota Wild Rookie Camp for the second consecutive year in 2009 and scored twice in his first game back with the Mooseheads last Sunday at P.E.I.
Also today, Russell named 19-year-old defenseman Pascal Amyot and 18-year-old winger Travis Randell as Assistant Captains for the current season.
Twillingate, NL, native Randell, drafted by the Mooseheads in round 2, #28, of the 2007 QMJHL Entry Draft, is also entering his third season in the QMJHL. In 114 games, all with Halifax, Randell has contributed 34 points, including 11 goals and was named the Mooseheads' Best Defensive Forward last season.
Amyott, from Ste-Foy, QC, was acquired by the Mooseheads Jan. 05, 2009 in a trade from Saint John, who had drafted him in the second round, #20, of the 2006 QMJHL Entry Draft. Now in his fourth season in the league, Amyot has played in a total of 178 regular season games, with 8 goals and 35 assists, along with 1 goal and 8 assists in 14 playoff games. Amyot has played in 29 games with Halifax, scoring 1 goal while adding 11 assists.
