
Juniors win 6-5 in overtime

Montreal - With a winning record of 2-1 so far in the 2009-2010 regular season, the Montreal Juniors celebrated Friday night, the return of star goalie JF Bérubé who participated in the LA Kings NHL camp. The Juniors won 6-5 in overtime against the Foreurs de Val-d'Or at Centre Air-Creebec.
Rookie Trevor Parkes and Captain Nicolas Chouinard filled the net to give the lead to their team early in the first. Val-d'Or's Keven Guérette-Charland, Simon Lacroix and Christian Morin struck back hard with three unanswered goals.
In the second frame, #17 Guillaume Asselin and #41 Nicolas Chouinard gave the lead back to the Juniors before Guérette-Charland and Morin each scored their second goal of the night. It was 5-4 for Val-d'Or after 40 minutes.
Juniors' #19 Trevor Parkes tied the game early in the third.
The game went in overtime. Veteran Hubert Genest scored the winning goal.
Goalie JF Bérubé stopped 37 shots while Val-d'Or's Sean Coulton made 44 saves.
The Montreal Juniors will now play in Rouyn-Noranda on September 19th before they drive back to Montreal to play their home opening game on Friday, September 25th, at 7.35pm, against the Lewiston MAINEiacs. The team will then face off against the Acadie-Bathurst Titan in Verdun on September 27th at 4.05pm.
