Knights Win for Third-Straight Day, Beat the Bulls 4-3 Wednesday

(Fort Mill, SC) - It was school day at Knights Stadium on Wednesday and the Knights were at the head of the class.
In front of nearly 6,900 school students, Greg Golson and Josh Phegley had two hits, and the Knights beat the Bulls for a third-straight day - this time by a score of 4-3. The Knights have now won all three games in the series and have pulled their overall record back to .500 (7-7). They are currently 5-2 at home this season.
The Knights bats broke out for four runs in the second inning of Wednesday's game. Dan Johnson started it off with a leadoff walk. Phegley then followed the walk with a double to left center field. Two batters later, Jose Castro got his first base hit as a Knight - an RBI single, to make it 1-0 Knights.
Things then started to unravel for Durham starter Chris Archer (1-2, 9.95) - a Raleigh, NC native. Archer threw a wild pitch to allow Phegley to score and then Golson doubled off the right center field wall to bring in two more and make it 4-0 Knights. The RBI by Golson proved to be the game-winner. He also drove home the game-winning run in Tuesday's 3-2 Knights win with a base hit to right center.
The Bulls added a run in the third, fifth, and seventh innings of Wednesday's game. Two of the three runs came off Knights starter Charlie Leesman (1-1, 5.02).
Leesman followed up a five-inning, three hit, one run performance last Friday at Norfolk with another five-inning outing Wednesday. He only surrendered two runs against the Bulls and recorded his first Triple-A victory.
Durham's third run came off Knights reliever Brian Omogrosso, who ran into a bit of trouble in the seventh. Omogrosso issued a leadoff walk to Kyle Hudson. Three batters later, Brandon Guyer drove-in Hudson to make it a 4-3 game at that point.
Reliever Leyson Septimo pitched out of trouble in the eighth for the Knights after walking Leslie Anderson to start the inning and moving him to second on a wild pitch. The runner advanced to third on a groundout to first, but Septimo got Jesus Feliciano to groundout to a drawn-in Ray Olmedo at short for the second out. He then struck out Nevin Ashley to preserve the 4-3 lead.
For the second straight day, Brian Bruney came on and sat down the Bulls 1-2-3 in the ninth for his second save. Dating back to last season, Bruney is now 9-for-9 in save chances with the Knights.
The series finale is Thursday night at 7:15 p.m. at Knights Stadium. RHP Terry Doyle (0-1, 7.84) will take the mound for the Knights, while RHP Alex Cobb (0-1, 2.25) will toe the rubber for the Bulls.
