
Knights triple out Lynx

FORT MILL, SC- Tied heading into the bottom of the ninth inning, Charlotte was able to manufacture a run on a game winning triple by Chris Stewart giving them a 3-2 victory over the visiting Ottawa Lynx. With the win the Knights continue to boast the best record in all of baseball at 33-11.
The Lynx got out to an early lead after third baseman, Fernando Tatis, hit a double and was brought home on a single by first baseman, Andy Tracy. Starting pitcher for the Knights, Stephen Randolph, was able to escape the first inning as Lynx second baseman, Howie Clark, grounded into a double play.
In the second inning, Lynx shortstop Eddy Garabito, was ejected from the game, costing him a ten game hitting streak.
The Knights evened the score in the third when right-fielder Ryan Sweeney grounded into a fielders choice that plated the tying run and knotted the game at two.
In the top of the fifth, Brooks Badeaux, who replaced Garabito at second, hit a solo shot over the wall in left field, giving the Lynx the lead 2-1.
The Knights once again came back in the seventh with Tony Torcato scoring off of a double by Jerry Owens.
Knights first baseman, Casey Rogowski, drew three walks during the evening, while Lynx left fielder, Luis Terrero, was caught stealing three times.
Knights catcher, Chris Stewart was Charlotte's knight in shining armor as he hit a walk off triple in the ninth inning, giving the Knights the win 3-2.
Stephen Randolph pitched seven innings, allowing five hits and giving up two runs. Agustin Montero earned the win for the Knights after pitching two innings, allowing only one hit.
The Knights will take on the Lynx once again tomorrow evening at 7:15 p.m. with right-handed pitcher Tim Redding taking the mound against Lynx left hander Craig Anderson.
