Knights Pitching Leads to Third Straight Win

FORT MILL, S.C. - The Charlotte Knights needed only two runs to defeat the Rochester Red Wings in a 2-1 pitching duel at Knights Stadium. The Knights are now 7-0 this season vs. Rochester.

The Knights had 6.0 strong innings from starter Brandon Hynick who allowed just one run off five hits to go along with three strikeouts. The Red Wings only scoring came when Brian Dinkelman was able to connect on a solo home run to right field to give the Red Wings a 1-0 lead in the top of the 6th inning.

Rochester's Nick Blackburn, making his first start since being optioned from the Minnesota Twins, allowed no runs in 5.0 innings. The Knights were able to get some scoring off Red Wings reliever seff Manship as Luis Rodriguez hit his 14th home run of the season to tie things up in the bottom of the 6th.

Rob Hudson broke the tie in the 8th inning with a solo home run of his own off Manship. Charlotte's Clevelan Santeliz came on in the 9th inning to record his first save of the season.

The Knights and Red Wings continue their series tomorrow at 7:15 PM. The Red Wings will start RHP David Bromberg (1-1, 4.50 ERA) and the Knights starting pitcher has yet to be announced.
