FORT MILL, S.C. - August 19, 2007 - The Charlotte Knights built an early lead and never looked back in a decisive 7-1 win over Indianapolis. Lead-off batter Alex Sanchez got things going with a solo home run in the bottom of the first for a 1-0 lead. RBI singles by Earl Snyder and Kenny Perez, along with a sacrifice bunt by Tomas Perez helped the Knights jump out to an early 4-0 lead.
Perez added to the Knights score with a hit a three-run homer to cement the Knights win. For the game, Perez was 2-4 with four RBI and extended his hitting streak to 13 games.
Heath Phillips (11-7, 4.39) picked up his 11 win of the season, going seven innings and striking out four. Marty McLeary (4-6, 4.77) took the loss for the Indians.
The Knights are off on Monday and return to action to begin a four-game home stand against Norfolk on Tuesday. Game time is 7:15 p.m.
