FORT MILL, S.C. - April 6, 2007 - With temperatures more suited for football, the Charlotte Knights tried to heat things up, but came up short in a 5 - 1 loss to Pawtucket. Red Sox shortstop Ed Rogers homered off of Charlie Haeger (0-1) in the top of the first for the early lead. Pawtucket would add two more in the second to increase their lead to 3 - 0. Haeger pitched 6 innings giving up 4 earned runs and striking out 4.
Devern Hansack (1-0) struck out 10 in the win for the Red Sox, Craig Hansen ( S, 1) picked up his first save of the season. For the second consecutive night, Knights RF Luis Terrero homered in the loss.
The Knights and Red Sox continue their series Saturday as RHP David Pauley will start for the Red Sox and he will face Knights RHP Lance Broadway. Game time is 7:15 p.m.
