FORT MILL, S.C. - June 4, 2007 - The Chicago White Sox have purchased the contracts of pitchers Ryan Bukvich and Bret Prinz from Charlotte and have optioned pitchers David Aardsma and Mike MacDougal to the Knights.
Bukvich appeared in 23 games with the Knights this season coming out of the bullpen, going 1-3, with nine saves and a 2.89 ERA. He has pitched in 48 major league games throughout his career with Kansas City (2002-04) and Texas (2005) going 2-0 with a 6.94 ERA.
Prinz saw action in 15 games, going 0-1 with one save and a 0.56 ERA. He has appeared in 98 major-league games over five seasons with Arizona (2001-03), the Yankees (2003-04) and Dodgers (2005), going 5-4 with nine saves and a 4.77 ERA. His best season came as a rookie in 2001 when he was 4-1 with a 2.63 ERA and ranked second on the team with nine saves as the Diamondbacks won the World Series.
Aardsma has gone 2-1 with a 6.18 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 22 relief appearances this season, his first with the White Sox. After going 2-0 with a 1.72 ERA and 23 strikeouts in April, he went 0-1 with a 12.00 ERA and nine strikeouts in 11 games combined in May and June.
MacDougal is 1-3 with a 7.13 ERA and 18 walks in 27 relief appearances this season. He allowed 22 hits and 17 walks with 11 holds. MacDougal compiled a 2.89 ERA in April but gave up 11 earned runs over 8.1 IP in May and June (11.89 ERA).
