
Knights' Bats Stay Hot in 10-2 Win over Durham

FORT MILL, S.C. - The Charlotte Knights are enjoying the role of spoiler as they defeated the contending Durham Bulls 10-2 at Knights Stadium. The Knights pounded out 13 hits in the game and have now scored 10 or more runs in four of their last 11 games.
Charlotte third baseman Dallas McPherson led the way going 3 for 4 in the game including his 20th home run of the season. McPherson drove in four runs and was one of three Knights players to score twice in the game. Knights starting pitcher Deunte Heath earned the win striking out six in 5.2 innings of work.
A.J. Pierzynski of the Chicago White Sox continued his major league rehab assignment with the Knights going 1 for 3 with an RBI single and a run scored. Pierzynski, the Knights designated hitter in the game, knocked in the first run of the game for Charlotte as part of a five-run first inning. Jordan Danks added a two-RBI single to cap off the first inning.
The loss puts Durham just 2.0 games ahead of the Gwinnett Braves for the I.L. South Division lead with just five games left in the season.
The Knights take on the Bulls tomorrow with first pitch scheduled for 7:15 PM. RHP Dylan Axelrod will start for Charlotte and RHP Chris Archer will start for Durham.
