August 31, 2011 - International League (IL1)
Toledo Mud Hens News Release
(Toledo, OH) - The Toledo Walleye and head Coach Nick Vitucci announced today that forward Evan Rankin has agreed to terms for the 2011-12 season.
Rankin, a native of Portage, Michigan, has appeared in 128 games over the past two seasons with Toledo. Evan has scored 55 goals, collected 57 assists and is a +11 in those contests. Nine of the goals with the Walleye have been game-winners. Rankin was the first Walleye player to score a hat trick (three goals) in a game when he accomplished that feat on January 17, 2010 against Johnstown. He has duplicated that feat twice, including a five-goal outburst on February 18, 2010 at Charlotte.
"Signing Evan was instrumental for this season," said Head Coach Nick Vitucci. "His contributions over the past couple of seasons speak for themselves. We will have a lot of creative players who will benefit from Evan's willingness to drive to the net and his ability to finish."
The 25-year-old has appeared in 14 AHL contests, including 10 last year with Walleye affiliate Grand Rapids, with two goals and one assist. In the CHL during the 2008-09 season, Evan scored 28 times with 23 helpers while playing with Rio Grande. Rankin also spent four years with Notre Dame, appearing in 143 games.
