HENDERSON - The Indoor Football League announced today, June 20, that Vegas Knight Hawks linebacker Makel Calhoun has been named the league's Defensive Player of the Week for Week 14 of the IFL season. It is the second time this season that Calhoun has been recognized with Player of the Week honors.

Calhoun was also recognized after Week 7 of the IFL schedule. He joins Quarterback Ja'Rome Johnson, who has also won Player of the Week honors twice this season.

Calhoun led the Knight Hawks with 7.5 total tackles in Saturday's 53-39 win over the Duke City Gladiators, including seven solo tackles. Calhoun collected three tackles for loss, including two sacks for a combined 14 yards.

The rookie linebacker leads the league with seven sacks this season, and his 13 tackles for loss are tied for second in the IFL. His 49.5 total tackles lead the team.

Calhoun is one of two Knight Hawks to ever earn Defensive Player of the Week honors, along with Matt Elam, and he is the first Knight Hawk to win it twice.
