LAST TIME OUT

On February 12, 2019, the Westchester Knicks (22-17) saw reigning NBA G League Player of the Week Billy Garrett give another 30-point effort before the Capital City Go-Go (19-16) rallied back, 118-115, Tuesday evening at Entertainment and Sports Arena.

The Go-Go trailed by as many as 17 points in the first half but managed to outscore the Knicks by 10 in the second quarter to come within four by the intermission.

Capital City was behind six at the start of the fourth quarter. The hosts benefitted a 11-5 run to deadlock scoring at 93-up with 9:14 remaining. Two more ties followed before the Go-Go stepped in front for good. Westchester cut it down to just a one-possession game five times in the clutch window but was unable to prevail.

Garrett scored 30 points and came up with six steals which are the most by a Knicks player this season and establishes a new personal career-high.

Paul Watson had a career-high 25 points on 64.3-percent shooting which also included a career-high five triples on 50-percent shooting. Jameel Warney had 25 points and seven rebounds. Zak Irvin contributed 11 points, 10 rebounds and a career-high seven dimes.

Chris Chiozza paced the Go-Go with 27 points and 10 assists. Noah Allen had 21 points while Isaiah Armwood added 12 points and tied a game-high 10 boards.

LAST MEETING

On November 2, 2018, the Westchester Knicks, the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, had five in double-figures in a 95-92 victory over the Maine Red Claws Friday evening at Portland Expo Building.

Returning player John Jenkins was the Knicks' high point-getter with 19 on 42.1-percent shooting. Jenkins also drained 50-percent of his looks from three, 3-of-6, while registering three assists and a pair of rebounds.

Isaiah Hicks put up a 16-point, six-rebound and one-assist effort before surrendering to foul trouble in 19 minutes. Kadeem Allen added 15 points to the cause while Gyorgy Goloman (12) and Paul Watson (10) contributed off the bench. Stephen Zimmerman's 10 boards comprised of seven on the defensive end and three on the offensive glass, tied a game-high.

The host was led by Walter Lemon who netted 26 points on a 52.3-percent clip. Robert Williams III mirrored Zimmerman's rebounding numbers while also tallying 11 points for a double-double. Marcus George-Hunt (14), Justin Bibbs (12) and P.J. Dozier (10) also scored in double-figures. Williams III rejected a game-high three shot attempts.

Westchester went up by as many as 13 points last seen at the 1:46 mark of the third quarter and flirted with a double-digit advantage with just about four minutes remaining in the game.

A Hicks' layup with 3:57 left had the Knicks ahead 90-80 but would be the only live ball make for Westchester for the next 2:43 while Maine got behind a 12-3 run to erase all but one-point of its deficit, 93-92.

With just 13.7 seconds remaining, Jenkins settled for a baseline jumper to put Westchester back up three. On the ensuing possession, a deep three-point heave by Georges-Hunt following a Maine timeout was off the mark as time expired.

The Knicks are now 3-1 in season openers under head coach Mike Miller which includes a pair of victories over Maine.

SLIPPIN' SEKOU

After putting up 20 points against Canton (2/8), Sekou Wiggs has averaged 3.0 points on 11.8-percent shooting in two games. His 20 point-performance followed a another two-game span where he also shot 11.8-percent and scored 2.3 points per game.

Billy Garrett is averaging 30.0 points in Westchester's last three games which is the third-most by a Knicks this season. John Jenkins averaged 32.0 points per game in a three-game span that included Fort Wayne (12/13), Grand Rapids (12/15) and Iowa (12/19). Jenkins also averaged 33.0 points in a three-game span from 11/6-11/14 and from 11/10-11/16. The window from 11/10-11/16 is a consecutive three-game streak as Jenkins missed the game on 11/8.

On February 11, 2019, the Westchester Knicks acquired Parker Jackson-Cartwright from the available player pool and waived Kevin Olekaibe.

Jackson-Cartwright, 5'11, 170, joined the Westchester Knicks by the way of Raptors 905. The Raptors drafted Jackson-Cartwright in the second round of the 2018 NBA G League Draft.

On February 11, Billy Garrett was named the NBA G League Player of the Week as announced by the league Monday afternoon. In a 2-0 week for Westchester, Garrett averaged a team-leading 30.0 points on 51.2-percent shooting, 3.5 rebounds, 7.0 assists, 1.5 steals and drained four triples.

10-DAY CONTRACT

On February 11, the New York Knicks announced that the team signed John Jenkins of the Westchester Knicks to a 10-day contract.

With Westchester this season, Jenkins (6'4, 215) started each of the 19 games he appeared in averaging a team-high 24.8 points per game on 47-percent shooting. The guard also drained 62 triples this season on 42.5-percent and was a 92.8-percent free-throw shooter. His line also included averages of 3.8 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 1.1 steals and a pair of 40-point performances.

Upon receiving a 10-Day contract with the Washington Wizards, Jenkins split time between the Wizards and its NBA G League affiliate, Capital City Go-Go. With Washington, Jenkins appeared in four games averaging 1.5 points, 0.3 rebounds and 0.3 assists. With the Go-Go, Jenkins averaged 24.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 0.7 assists in two games played.
