Jacksonville, FL --- Matthew Klinker hurled one-hit ball over six scoreless innings to lead Carolina to a 2-0 victory over the Jacksonville Suns in the opener of Saturday's doubleheader at the Baseball Grounds.

Klinker (W, 3-0), who has won all three of his Double-A starts, fanned six over the first three innings during which he surrendered the only Suns' hit of the game, a single by Kevin Randel inside the right field line in the second inning. Klinker erased Randel on a double play ball, one of two behind the 24-year-old in the game. All-star Logan Ondrusek (S, 4) worked a perfect seventh to save up the victory.

Carolina (7-12) took a 1-0 lead in the fourth on a two-out soft single to left-center by Stephen Chapman, to score Todd Frazier who went 3-4 in the opener. The lead grew to 2-0 thanks to three consecutive first-pitch singles with two outs in the fifth by Jose Castro, Frazier and Juan Franccisco.

Cristhian Martinez (L, 7-3) was dealt his first loss since May 4th, yielding eight hits over six frames.

Klinker fanned eight over his 83-pitch effort, walking three.

The second game is scheduled for 7:45 PM ET with Tom Cochran (1-2, 4.21) scheduled to pitch against Brad Stone (1-1, 2.56).
