Tribe Talk....

K-Tribe Momentum Halted - Frederick out paced the K-Tribe with four home runs en-route to a 10-7 finish Saturday night at Harry Grove stadium. Kinston hit a few blasts as well, Adam Abraham, Abner Abreu and Anthony Gallas all got in on the action as Kinston has hit eight homers in the last five games. Abner Abreu has paced the increased output with three blasts over the last four.

Gold Glove Caliber K-Tribe - Kinston is statistically the best team in the Carolina League. The K-Tribe's fielding percentage of .978 just edges Salem's mark of .977. As a team, Kinston has committed a league best 70 errors, five better than Salem. Among defensive starters, Roberto Perez holds Kinston's best mark, a .991 fielding percentage, he has also totaled a catchers best 501 putouts. Potomac's percentage of .966 is far and away the worst. Potomac has also totaled 106 errors, 11 more than the next closest team, Winston-Salem.

Carolina Class - With a series sweep secured on Friday, the K-Tribe is just one game shy of the league's best record, Held by Frederick. 14 games over .500 marks the highest point for Kinston this season, reached by sweeping Lynchburg on July 8. Kinston still hasn't matched the superiority of AAA Columbus. The Indians AAA affiliate is 58 - 32, 9.5 games over second placed Louisville . League's Best - Kinston finished June with the league's best record at 18-9. The K-Tribe launched 18 HR (4th) and had the best era mark at 2.54. June's top mark came on the heels of May's 18-10 record, which was second best in the league, one game back of Frederick's 19-11.

Ace of...Akron -Kinston pitcher Drew Pomeranz was called up to AA Akron on 7/9. The first year pro didn't have much left to prove in the Carolina League, having earned an all-star game appearance, pitcher of the week award and topping a number league pitching stats. Pomeranz holds the best era (1.87), lowest opponents batting average (.202) and fourth best strikeout total (95). On Sunday, July 10th, Pomeranz will appear in the XM Futures game as one of ten pitchers for the U.S. Team.

Good Company - Pomeranz will join a number of former K-Tribers who are Futures Game alumni.
