Myrtle Beach has clinched the first half title, Frederick is the Northern Division Champion. Northern Exposure - Kinston is 22-13 against the Northern Division this season, including 11-4 against the Northern Division on the road.

So Close - Kinston has had an amazing last month, going 22-9 and not losing back-to-back games since May 15th and 16th. On May 17th, Kinston started the day with a 14-22 record, 8 ½ games out of first place in the Carolina League Southern Division.

MB & Kinston Play in Longest Game in League History Sunday- In the 36,610 games played in the Carolina League, no game had previously surpassed the 21 inning mark. The Carolina League mark was a 3-2 Wilmington win over Danville on July 5th, 1998. Prior to Sunday, Kinston's longest game was 20 innings, set against Tidewater on April 19th, 1967. In Sunday's record breaker 15 pitchers were used, throwing 654 pitches in total. Preston Guilmet blew his first save in 15 opportunities, allowing the last run to score until the 23rd. Kinston left 21 base runners aboard, 13 after the ninth and struck out 32 times. The Pelicans stranded 16 men, going 1-13 with runners in scoring position. Roberto Perez caught all 23 innings (as did MB's Zach Zaneski), finishing 4/9 with a home run and the game winning run, one of three for Perez on the day.

Iron Man - Kinston catcher Roberto Perez caught all 23 innings in Sunday's record breaking contest. He boasted the game's best offensive production, scoring all 3 Kinston runs and knocking his first homer of the year. Perez followed that up by finding himself behind the plate for all 14 innings of Monday's doubleheader

Hey Now, You're An...Ya You Know the Rest - Four Kinston Indians were named to the Carolina League All-Star Team Wednesday as Drew Pomeranz, Preston Guilmet, Justin Toole and Giovanni Soto were all voted onto the squad. Kinston Manager Aaron Holbert is also selected as a coach on the Carolina League All-Star Staff. The Carolina League All-Stars will take on the California League All-Stars on June 21st in Modesto, California (Soto will not make the trip to California because he is on the DL).
