Kingston Frontenacs News Release

Kingston-In a city rich in military roots, the Kingston Frontenacs are proud to honour the troops of the Greater Kingston Area with the Salute To Hometown Heroes game on Friday, November 9, 2012. The regular season match-up, against longtime rival Belleville Bulls, will feature a pregame Remembrance Day ceremony, including the ceremonial puck-drop by Warrant Officer Wayne Easterbrook, an active military serviceman who was aboard the VIA rail disaster in Burlington earlier this year, and unselfishly helped many people escape the accident carnage. The ceremony will also include the Royal Canadian Legion colour guard and the pipes and drums of the Rob Roy Pipe Band. As an added tribute to local military service personnel, the Kingston Frontenacs are offering a reduced "Hometown Hero" rate for military members at just $12 per ticket at the box office when in uniform, or by presenting their military ID.

"Kingston has always been a military community and the Kingston Frontenacs are privileged to honour our troops at Friday's game," said Justin Chenier, Executive Director of Business Operations for the Kingston Frontenacs. "Hockey and the military are interconnected with Kingston, with our rich military heritage and the inception of the Memorial Cup here in Kingston more than 100 years ago, not to mention Kingston's place in the birth of hockey."

Tickets are available at the K-Rock Centre Box Office.
