Kingston Frontenacs opened a 3-game home set tonight with the Central Division's first place Brampton Battallion.
First Period, 4-minutes in the game Kotsopouslos and McPhearson serve 5-for-Fighting. 9:01, former Frontenacs winger McDonald welcomes Petrow to Kingston with Roughing called on both. The only powerplay of the period was for Brampton at 13:36 with Wallingford for Cross-Checking. 19:22, the Frontenacs will start the 2nd period with Kotsopouslos serving 10-minute misconduct. No scoring, shots on goal 6 a piece.
Second Period, Dayne Davis mishandles the puck and Petrow shoots around the boards right to Brampton's rookie McNabb who feeds J.F. Houle and the 1 - 0 lead at 3:47. Kingston goes on their first powerplay opportunity with Snow in the penalty box at 4:05 for Roughing. Both teams now 0-for-2 on powerplays. Brampton giveaway behind their own blueline, Frontenacs' Rizzi and Hughes setup Bobby Bolt (3) who spears it in past Daren Machesney tying the game at 10:17. Shots on goal this period, 7 each.
Third Period following an outstanding save by Davis, Wotjek Wolski steals the puck and takes a 2 - 1 Brampton lead at 1:37. Lyons and Duff mix it up and both are penalized at 2:26 for Roughing. Kingston goes on their 3rd powerplay op as McNabb is called for Hooking at 5:46. 9:04, Smolenak makes a nice pass to Bobby Bolt (4) who skates halfway down the ice making a diving goal and tying the game at 2. Chris Stewart and Oreskovic provides the next fight of the night at centre-ice at 9:08 and both get Fighting majors. 4:03 Griffith goes off for tripping, during the Brampton powerplay Bolt is hauled down to the sound of jeers from the hometown fans. Less than 30-seconds in regulation both goalies Davis and Machesney come up with big saves closing the 3rd period at 2 - 2.
Overtime, 4-skaters each. Vernace gets caught for hooking at 0:36 and Kingston is on the powerplay. Fronts first chance, Rizzi dings off the crossbar. Kingston penetrates the Brampton zone; Suda and Shutron set-up Radek Smolenak (7) who is all alone in front to score the game winner. Kingston 3 - Brampton 2.
