Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release
TORONTO, ON â The Majors 2004-05 magnetic schedule has arrived and each fan will be provided with one as they enter the St. Michael's College School Arena on Sunday afternoon for the Majors tilt with the London Knights. With their 3-2 overtime win against the Guelph Storm last night, the Knights record sits at 15-0-1-0, extending their OHL record for the best start to a season. They were rated as the Canadian Hockey League's top team once again this week.
The Knights offence is paced by 2003 Anaheim 1st Round draft pick, Corey Perry, who has registered at least one point in every Knights game this season and leads the OHL with 38 points. On defence, they are led by 3rd-year blueliner Danny Syvret, who possesses 19 points and a +24 plus/minus rating. And, their two netminders, Gerald Coleman and Ryan MacDonald, sport the league's 1st and 3rd best goals-against-averages at 1.84 and 2.11, respectively. Overall, the Knights have scored the most goals in the league (74) and allowed the fewest (32).
The Majors hope that they have a secret weapon in shifty forward Alexei Ivanov. They received the speedster in a trade with the Knights this week. The Majors can also think back to October 19th, 2003, when their record sat at 4-7-0-1 and they knocked off a powerful Knights club 3-2. Current Majors forwards Darryl Boyce and Jamie Vanderveeken found the back of the net in that Sunday afternoon contest. If the Majors are able to halt the Knights magical run, will you be here to witness it?
The Majors travel to Erie, Pennsylvania for a 7:30 pm puck drop with the Otters this evening (Friday, November 5th) before returning home to tangle with the Knights on Sunday (November 7th) at 2:00 pm. The latter tilt will be available on Rogers television in the Toronto region (channel 10 or 63) while both will be webcast at www.stmichaelsmajors.com.
Majors tickets can be purchased in a number of ways: through the Majors office at (416) 651-8228, by calling Ticketmaster at (416) 872-5000, online at www.ticketmaster.ca or by stopping by the St. Michael's College School Arena box office within two hours of the puck drop.
Majors Notes
In-arena balloting for the Scotiabank October Player of the Month award will take place this Sunday. All fans will be provided with a ballot as they enter the arena. Online voting will take place between 7:00 pm on Sunday evening and 7:00 pm next Friday evening (November 12th) at www.stmichaelsmajors.com. Fans, let your voices be heard!
