Richards scores 100th & 101st goals in win

Kitchener, ON: Despite falling behind 2-0 early the Rangers battled back for a 6-3 win tonight against the Saginaw Spirit before a crowd of 5,835 at The Aud.

The Spirit jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the opening twenty minutes on goals by Marik Kvapil and Dan Idema.

In the second period the Rangers turned the game around with three consecutive goals to lead 3-2 after two periods. Andre Benoit (7), Patrick Davis (4) and Michael Richards (7) all scored for the Rangers. Richards' goal was the 100th of his OHL career.

Craig Voakes (8) and Mike Duco (7) scored goals early in the third period to push the Rangers lead to 5-2.

Tom Pyatt scored for the Spirit on the power play to climb back into the game. Michael Richards ended the Spirit hopes for a comeback with a shorthanded goal, his second of the game and 101st of his career.

Carlo DiRienzo extended his unbeaten streak to 5-0-1 and improved his record to 6-2-1 on the season.

The Rangers next home game is Friday, November 12th vs the Windsor Spitfires. Game time is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at The Aud.

Game Notes: Richards two goals were the 100th and 101st of his career...Craig Voakes notched a goal and 2 assists...Evan McGrath picked up 2 assists...Andre Benoit collected a goal and an assist...former Rangers D Thomas Harrison picked up 4 PIM's in the game and now has 84 on the season, he also picked up an assist...DiRienzo now has a 2.60 GAA and a .919 SV%.
