Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release

ERIE, PA — It has been a long time since the Toronto St. Michael's Majors were able to drive away from Erie's Tullio Arena with two points. Tonight was no different. After falling to the Otters 5-3 in Pennsylvania two weeks ago, the Majors were beaten 3-2 this evening.

It was a productive 2nd period that won the game for the home squad. They received two quick goals from Geoff Platt and Vince Scott at 0:44 and 6:29 (shorthanded). The assists went to Michael Blunden, Rob Hisey and Brian Lee. Sandwiched in-between was a solo, shorthanded effort by the Majors Matt Halischuk, at 4:24. However, Derek Merlini notched the eventual game-winner six minutes into the 3rd period. Scott drew the lone assist. Travis Elder contributed his 2nd goal of the year at 14:03 of the final frame for the Majors, with Darryl Boyce providing the assist, but it was too little, too late.

Wayne Savage got the first start of his OHL career for the Majors and turned aside 24 shots in taking the loss. Josh Disher responded with 20 saves for the Otters. Each team went 0 for 7 on the power-play. The game's three stars were Scott (1st), Lee (2nd) and Halischuk (3rd).

The Majors return home to tangle with the undefeated London Knights on Sunday (November 7th) at 2:00 pm. This game will be available on Rogers television in the Toronto region (channel 10 or 63) and will be webcast at www.stmichaelsmajors.com.

Majors tickets can be purchased in a number of ways: through the Majors office at (416) 651-8228, by calling Ticketmaster at (416) 872-5000, online at www.ticketmaster.ca or by stopping by the St. Michael's College School Arena box office within two hours of the puck drop.
