Salt Lake City Stars News Release
SALT LAKE CITY - George King came off a high screen to knock down a straight-away three with 14.1 seconds left, giving the Agua Caliente Clippers a 110-108 lead over the Salt Lake City Stars. The Clippers would go on to defeat the Stars 111-108, robbing the Stars of what would have been an improbable comeback victory at the Toyota Arena on Thursday night.
The Clippers led by nine with 4:10 left to play in the fourth quarter before the visiting Stars exploded for a 12-2 run, capped off by a Carsen Edwards three-pointer that gave the Stars a 108-107 lead with 57.1 seconds left to play.
The Clippers turned the ball over on the ensuing possession but were able to get a stop and defensive rebound on the other end before King was able to unleash his late-game heroics.
Edwards finished the night with 34 points and two steals, while his fellow backcourt mate Jared Wilson-Frame added 30 points, eight rebounds and five assists. Marques Bolden finished with 12 points, 14 rebounds and four blocked shots for the Stars.
Keaton Wallace led the way for the Clippers with 26 points and eight rebounds and Nate Darling added 20 points and five assists.
Trevon Scott picked up an assist on King's game winning shot, it was only his second assist of the night, but Scott was able to contribute to the Clippers win with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
The Stars will return to Salt Lake City for a three-game homestand to end the 2021-22 season. The Stars will host the Santa Cruz Warriors at 7 p.m. on March 29 at Bruin Arena at Salt Lake Community College.
On April 1, the Stars will meet the Texas Legends for a 7 p.m. tipoff at Vivint Arena in downtown Salt Lake City. The following night, the Stars will welcome the Stockton Kings to Bruin Arena for a 7 p.m. showdown that will bookend the 2021-22 Salt Lake City Stars season.
