Corpus Christi and Mississippi played a quick, scoreless period to start the game. The Kings outshot the Rayz 14-10 in the opening stanza.
In the second period each team tallied once. Ryan Campbell got the scoring started for the RiverKings when his centering pass from the right circle was deflected by the Rayz into their own net at 5:30. The Rayz tied the score on a late Kevin Watters goal from the bottom of the right circle that slid on the ice underneath Ian Keserich at 19:05.
The Kings recaptured the lead in the third period when Rick Kozak scored at 9:50 after a failed clearing attempt by the Rayz. With Corpus Christi pressing for the equalizer the Kings took advantage on an odd mad rush. Jason Lawmaster scored on a rebound from a Chad Wollard shot at 18:00 to make it 3-1. Steve Makway added an empty net goal at 18:34 to close the scoring.
Jason Tapp made 34 saves on 37 shots and fell to 15-18-4. Keserich made 31 saves on 32 shots, and improved to 6-2-2 with the win. The Rayz went 0-3 on the power play, and the RiverKings were 0-1. The Kings outshot the Rayz 38-32.
