Rage Rally in Third but Fall in Shootout, 4-3

Rocky Mountain Rage News Release
Laredo, Texas - The Rocky Mountain Rage overcame a 3-1 deficit to begin the third period before falling in a shootout, 4-3, to the Laredo Bucks at Laredo Entertainment Center.
Special teams propelled the Southeast Division-leading Bucks to their two-goal edge through 40 minutes as they went two for three with the extra man while thwarting all five Rage power play opportunities. Laredo's Jeff Bes and Serge Dube struck on the power play and Derek Legault added an even strength tally, while only Colt King lit the lamp for Rocky Mountain over the first two periods.
In addition to the two-goal deficit, the Rage faced further adversity when leading scorer and captain Brent Cullaton went down to injury late in the middle frame.
Rocky Mountain showed why it is the top team in the Northwest Division, though, by quickly storming from behind to tie the game at three early in the third. Nathan Rosychuk fired a bullet just under the crossbar for a short-handed goal at 1:07 before Scott Wray crashed the net to jam home a rebound at 4:17. The Rage out-shot the Bucks, 11-6, and continued to control the final 20 minutes but were unable to forge into the lead.
Tied at three entering overtime, Rocky Mountain dominated the first half of the extra session before Laredo turned the tables. But Rage goaltender Scott Reid made several big stops in the waning moments to force the tie-breaker.
The shootout took six rounds with Laredo scoring twice and Rocky Mountain only once, delivering the victory to the defending Southern Conference Champs.
The Rage earned a single point in the standings and are now 28-7-4 with 60 points, still sitting atop the Northwest Division seven points ahead of the idle Colorado Eagles.
The team's seven-game, five-city road trip now continues in Corpus Christi and Rio Grande Valley on Friday and Saturday before finally concluding in Tulsa on Feb. 5. The Rage return home to Broomfield Event Center on Feb. 8 and 9 against the Arizona Sundogs and Odessa Jackalopes.
Single-game tickets for the remainder of the 2007-08 regular season are available with prices ranging from $18 - $43 per seat (parking included).
