
Kings Assign Vey to the Monarchs

LOS ANGELES, CA - The Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have assigned forward Linden Vey to the Monarchs, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today. In addition, the Monarchs have released defenseman Ben Danford from his amateur tryout agreement, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.
The 22-year-old rookie appeared in 18 regular season games for the Kings this season (his first in the NHL), recording five points (all assists) and zero penalty minutes.
The 6-foot, 189-pound native of Wakaw, Saskatchewan played in 43 regular season games for the Monarchs this season, recording 48 points (14-3448), 20 penalty minutes and a plus-8 rating. His 48 points and 34 assists ranked second on the club.
Vey was selected by the Kings in the fourth round (96th overall) in the 2009 NHL Draft.
Danford, 24, appeared in three games with the Monarchs and collected four penalty minutes and a plus-1 rating. He finished his senior season at Canisius College with five goals and 22 assists for 27 points and 41 penalty minutes this season. The 6-foot, 185-pound native of Stillwater, Minnesota, led all defensemen at Canisius College in points each of his four years. With a collegiate total of 158 games from 2010-14, Danford collected 10 goals, 74 assists, 84 points, and 114 penalty minutes.
