
Hogs End Season on High Note

Entering Friday night, the IceHogs were hanging onto playoff hopes by a thread. Rockford needed to win their final two games, unfortunately the Wolves got the bette of them in a 5-3 loss Friday. The two teams were tied at 3-3 heading into the final frame, but the IceHogs couldn't tally late. Saturday saw the IceHogs offense and power play explode. The PP"Ëunit tied a franchise record for most PP goals in a game with five. In the end, Rockford skated off the ice and ended the season with a 7-3 victory.

Bacon Bits:
-For the first time in franchise history a defenseman (Adam Clendening) paced the club in scoring
-Clendening tied Jeremy Rebek's all-time mark for most points by a defenseman in a single season with 59 points (12g-47a) in 74 games
-With five power play goals in Saturday's win, Rockford's special teams unit tied an all-time single game record for most power play goals in a game.
-The feat has been accomplished two other times, in an 8-3 win against San Antonio on Nov. 11, 2007 and on Mar. 14, 2007 vs. Quad City in an 8-1 victory
-Rookie forward Ryan Hartman closed out the 2013-14 campaign with three goals in the last two games and points in three of his last four contests (3g-2a)
-Hartman joined the IceHogs following his junior season and registered seven points (3g-4a) in nine games with Rockford
-Defenseman Klas Dahlbeck finished in the top 15 in the AHL with a plus/minus rating of +21
-Rookie forward Alex Broadhurst finished 14th in the AHL in scoring among rookies with 45 points (16g-29a)
-The rating set an new all-time mark for the IceHogs, breaking Richard Petiot's +20 during the 2009-10 season
-In 38 home games this season 182,540 came out to the BMO Harris Bank Center to watch the IceHogs, breaking the team's record which was set during the 2010-11 season (174,418)
-The club averaged 4,804 fans at each game, also breaking the IceHogs highest average attendance record for a season, set last season (4,560)
-Rockford had a team record of 10 sellouts and 18 times had a crowd of over 5,000 fans
-Finishing ninth in the Western Conference and four points out of a playoff spot, the IceHogs (35-32-5-4) failed to qualify for the Calder Cup Playoffs for the fourth-straight season
-The team, however, finished above .500 for the 10th straight campaign
-Rockford ranked 10th in the AHL in scoring, tallying 234 goals or 3.08 goals per game
-The IceHogs finished the season as the second best shootout team in the league, converting 39.5%, but also were last in the league giving up shootout goals 42.1% of the time
Hot Hog: Week 29
Right Wing, Ryan Hartman
Forward Ryan Hartman closed out the 2013-14 season with a bang. The 19-year-old recorded his first career multi-point game against the Chicago Wolves on Friday. Then, the West Dundee, Ill. native notched his first career multi-goal game in Rockford's 7-3 thrashing of Charlotte on Saturday. Hartman joined the IceHogs following his season with the Plymouth Whalers (OHL) and registered seven points (3g-4a) in nine games for Rockford.
