
Kings Acquire Defenseman Keaton Ellerby

LOS ANGELES, CA - The 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have acquired defenseman Keaton Ellerby from the Florida Panthers in exchange for a fifth-round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft and assigned defenseman Andrew Campbell to Manchester, Kings President/General Manager Dean Lombardi announced today.
Ellerby, 24, has played in 125 career NHL games (all with the Panthers), recording 17 points (2-1517) and 70 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-5, 217-pound native of Strathmore, Alberta was drafted by the Panthers in the first-round (10th overall) in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
This season, Ellerby has appeared in nine games with the Panthers, recording zero points and 36 penalty minutes. Ellerby is expected to join the team in Nashville and his jersey number will be No. 5
The fifth-round selection traded to Florida is the same fifth-round selection acquired by the Kings from New Jersey in exchange for forward Andrei Loktionov on Wednesday, February 6.
Campbell, 25, was recalled by the Kings on February 6. The 6-foot-4, 207-pound native of Caledonia, Ontario did not appear in a game.
