Kenosha Kingfish News Release
Last night the Kingfish took down the Kalamazoo Growlers by a score of 4-3 at historic Simmons Field. The game was highlighted by a 3-run sixth inning for the home team, led by a 2-RBI Triple from Pat Porter. Porter gave Growler pitchers problems all day, reaching base in each of his five at-bats. Recording the win for manager Duffy Dyer was reliever Curtis Morgan, who pitched four innings without allowing an earned run.
On the mound this evening for the Kingfish is right-hander Connor Kelly. The Arizona native will be making his third start of the season and looks to build on the success of his first two outings. Kelly's ability to get ahead in the count and field his position has helped him to an impressive 2.61 ERA, good for third on the team. First pitch is slated for 7:05pm
Fans in attendance tonight will watch ten lucky contestants compete in the "Casting Kings Competition." Throughout the game, participants will have the opportunity to win a cash prize if they cast their line into a bucket located upwards of 60 yards away in center field. Specialty concession items available tonight include meatball subs (found at the Main Concession Stand) and jalapeno bratwursts (found at the Main Concession Stand and King's Corner).
Following tonight's contest, the Kingfish will welcome the Wisconsin Woodchucks to Kenosha for a two-game set. The series promises to be competitive as the teams find themselves next to each other in the South Division standings. Promotions for the series include Festival Foods Oktoberfest Bratwurst Appreciation Night on Tuesday and Goldfish Night on Wednesday. The first 100 fans to enter the gates on Wednesday will receive a free goldfish courtesy of Good Water Aquatics. Numerous other goldfish themes will be present throughout the park over the course of the evening.
