Kenosha Kingfish News Release
Mankato, MN - The Kingfish, for the first time since late in the month of June, took on a team from the North Division tonight. It ended in victory by a final score of 11-7.
P.J. Schuster took the mound for the Kingfish and it was rough in the early goings. He surrendered three runs in the first two innings, but was able to re-gather himself. Schuster ended up notching his sixth win with 5.0 IP, 3 R, 2 ER, 3 BB, and 3 K. Jake Perkins and J.R. Holloway relieved him, combining to work the next 3.0 IP where they allowed 4 ER in that span. Ryan Orr shut the door on the Moondogs late as he pitched the ninth and, aside from a blooping base hit he surrendered, was perfect.
The offense was alive and well again as the team totaled 13 hits. Jeremy Vasquez went 3-4 and John Brodner had a 3-5 evening that included a solo home run. Micah Coffey, Eric Filia, and Alex Borglin each had multi-hit games with two knocks each. Brodner led the way with RBI (3) and Vasquez was close behind him (2). The Kingfish trailed 3-1 early, but thanks to an eight consecutive run push, were able to take and hold the lead the rest of the way.
Tonight's victory gives the ball club a record of 45-20 this summer, and are just one win shy of tying their first half season win total. The Kingfish will meet the Moondogs again on the diamond tomorrow evening at 7 p.m.
