Kenosha Kingfish News Release
La Crosse, Wis. - The Kingfish (8-12) went back-and-forth with La Crosse, but came away with the victory in the end 9-6.
For the second consecutive night, the Kingfish got the scoring started with a home run. This time, the fireworks came from a Marty Bechina 2-run blast in the 1st. Although the Loggers tied it in the bottom of the inning, the Kingfish took the lead again in the 2nd when Jack Yalowitz doubled to center field.
La Crosse responded again, however. The Loggers put a 3 spot up on the board in the 5th, and that's the way the score would stand until the 7th. Then, the Kingfish got their own 3-run frame thanks to base hits by Jack Yalowitz, Marty Bechina, and Pat McInerney. Kenosha also had a Gunnar McNeill sacrifice fly, and a perfectly executed safety squeeze by Nick Kanavas.
Again, the Loggers came back and tied it with an RBI double in the bottom of the 7th, and the game pressed on. The Kingfish put the game away for good in the 9th with another 3 run push, and the team held on to win 9-6.
Ryan Orr got the win for the Kingfish and pitched the final three innings without a single run allowed. He punched out Griffin Conine with two on base to secure the victory. Alex Hamilton was the game's starter and he lasted 3.2 innings while allowing 5 runs. Ty Ramirez relieved him for 2.1 innings and let in just one run off of 3 hits.
The Kingfish offense had another breakout performance totaling 15 hits. Four different Kingfish had 3-hit games. Jack Yalowitz went 3 for 3, Marty Bechina picked up 3 RBI on a 3 for 5 night, and both Nick Kanavas and Pat McInerney finished 3 for 4 with 2 RBI.
The Kingfish have a double header against Lakeshore tomorrow. Game 1 will be played in Mequon at 11:35 am, and the Kingfish will host game 2 at 7:05 pm in Kenosha.
