St. Cloud, Minn. - The St. Cloud Rox had won five straight games and had taken four of five meetings with the Duluth Huskies coming into Sunday's matinee.

Both of those trends continued Sunday, as the Rox (13-6) defeated the Huskies (9-11) by a final score of 6-3.

As with many of the recent meetings between the two clubs, the offenses were working early, with Duluth scoring two runs in the top of the first inning.

The Rox cut into the Duluth lead in the bottom of the inning, with Luke Ringhofer (South Dakota State) driving a wind assisted triple, which brought home Ricky Ramirez (McNeese State). The strong wind played a factor all day, contributing to four Husky errors.

Ringhofer led off the third with a double, coming around to score on an error from the Duluth third baseman trying to handle a hit from Denis Karas (Cal Berkeley).

The Rox did the most damage in the fourth inning, scoring three runs. Brandon Benson (Georgia College and State University) hit a ball over the left field fence for his first home run of the year. After a single from TJ Friedl (Nevada), Ramirez laid down a bunt that was thrown away allowing Friedl to race around and score, while Ramirez made it to third. Ramirez would score two batters later when Mark Skonieczny (Illinois) lifted a sacrifice fly to left field.

Karas drove the first pitch of the sixth inning over the left field fence, becoming the second Rox player to hit their first home run of the season in Sunday's game.

Starting pitcher Logan Salow (Kentucky) got off to a shaky start, allowing two runs in the first inning, but he settled into a groove, going 6.1 innings allowing 3 earned runs and striking out eight batters.

Colin Strall (LSU) followed in relief pitching 2.2 scoreless innings while striking out two batters and earning his second save of the season.

The Rox have now won 12 of their last 14 games, and own a 6-1 record at Joe Faber Field this season.

After an day off on Monday, the Rox will return to Joe Faber Field on Tuesday to take on the Waterloo Bucks in a matchup of North Division leaders.

Tonight's game one St. Cloud Times Player of the Game was Logan Salow following his outing on the mound. For more coverage of the Rox during the 2016 season visit www.sctimes.com.
