Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis. - The Bullfrogs picked up the win in today's ballgame against the Madison Mallards in impressive fashion. In all three phases on the game, the Bullfrogs dominated. The final score was 9-2 and the Bullfrogs picked up their seventh win of the season.
Austin Hancock (Lenoir RHyne) was spectacular once again for the Bullfrogs. The right hander dominated the Mallard bats from the get go. He held them to only three hits in seven innings of play while pitching scoreless frame after scoreless frame. In Hancock's last three starts, he has not gotten the run support needed to pick up victories but in today's game he got plenty of offense.
The offense began in the bottom of the third, and it was started via the small ball. The first three batters for the Bullfrogs reached base on three straight bunts. The last bunt coming off the bat of Matt Hoeg (Iowa Western CC) plated the first run of the ballgame in Laren Eustace (Indiana). The scoring would continue after back to back RBI base hits by Quincy Nieporte (FSU) and Hill Alexander (Midland) pushed the lead to three runs.
In the fifth inning, the Bullfrogs would plate two more runs off a two RBI single by Colton Onstott (Dodge City CC). Onstott has a team leading 13 RBIs on the season. Move ahead to the sixth, Laren Eustace took a 0-2 fastball over the right field fence to score the Bullfrogs sixth run of the game. The scoring would continue in the seventh as Austin Clemons (Louisville) would come up with bases loaded and roped a single into left field to score two runs. Jonah Davis (UC-Berkeley) would hit his second home run of the season, second of the game, in the eighth inning as the Bullfrogs scored their ninth and final run.
Hancock picked up his first win of the season, moving his record to 1-2 on the year. Eight of the nine Bullfrog positions players recorded a hit in today's ballgame.
Tomorrow the Bullfrogs will have their first day off of the season before heading on a four game road trip to Battle Creek and Kalamazoo.
