
Kingfish Fall to Bullfrogs, Suffer First Loss of Season

The Kingfish suffered their first loss of the season, losing 4-2 against the Green Bay Bullfrogs and moving to a record of 2-1 on the year.
The game started quiet for the Kingfish as they fell behind 2-0 in the 2nd inning. Pat Porter (OSU) sparked a rally in the top of the 4th with his first homer of the season. The Bullfrogs answered right back with Jamie Ritchie hitting a single and racking up one of his two RBIs on the night.
The 5th inning started off with singles from Brian Sisler (NIU) and Kyle Brooks (North Florida). Sisler scored on a Taylor Douglas' groundout but the side was retired with Brooks being thrown out at 3rd on the play.
Righty pitcher Zach Morgenstern (Augustana) pitched for 5 and 2/3rd innings and gave up 8 hits for only 3 runs. Justin Ruckman (NIU) took over in the 5 th and struck out Bullfrogs' Ritchie to end the threat.
The score held steady at 3-2 until the bottom of the 7th. The Bullfrogs reached first on a hit by pitch and scored to make it 4-2. Paul Schuster (SIUE) stepped into pitch and finished the inning.
The Bullfrogs closer, Josh Glick sealed the deal with 2 quick strikeouts and a Caleb Howell groundout to second to end the game. With the loss, the Kingfish fall to 2-1 on the road and will finish the 4 game road trip tomorrow night against the Bullfrogs.
On Saturday, May 31st 2014, the Kenosha Kingfish return to Kenosha for their home opener against the Mankato MoonDogs. The Kingfish office is located at 7817 Sheridan Road and is open from 9 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday and from 9 am to 1 pm on Saturday.
