La Crosse Loggers News Release
La Crosse, Wis. - Copeland Park has played host to numerous big games through the years, but on Friday, May 30 "The Lumberyard" will welcome in a pair of legendary high school coaches and teams when the Lansing Kee High (Iowa) Hawks take on the Decorah (Iowa) Vikings in a doubleheader slated to begin at 5:30 p.m.
What makes this match-up so intriguing is that the respective programs are led by the top two winningest high school coaches in the entire nation with over 3,000 victories amassed between the two of them. Lansing Kee High skipper Gene Schultz surpassed the 1,700 win-mark a season ago and is the all-time winningest high school coach in the country. Just behind him is Dennis Olejniczak (pronounced Ole-in-zak) at Decorah who went over the 1,300 win-mark last summer. The two legends have over 90 years of leading high school student-athletes between them and their respective teams, and records, will be on display at Copeland Park tomorrow night.
