
Kingfish Drop Season Opener to St. Cloud

Kenosha, Wis. - The Kingfish welcomed the St. Cloud Rox to historic Simmons Field for Opening Night on Tuesday in front of a crowd of 2,433. The Rox beat the Kingfish by a final of 13-4.
The Rox jumped out to a quick start, leading 5-1 by the bottom of the third inning. The Kingfish rallied back to get within three after a Nick Sergakis double drove in Bobby Sheppard and Nolan Lodden In the third inning. Hunter Alexander then doubled home Sergakis to make it a 5-4 ball game. That was as close as the Kingfish would come, as the Rox added eight more runs, including seven in the ninth inning, to capture the victory.
Paul Schuster got the start for the Kingfish and threw five strong innings. The righty struck out five and only surrendered one walk on the night. Four other Kenosha pitchers saw action Tuesday night. Ryan Orr pitched two strong innings of relief and Garret McKenzie struck out three in the top half of the ninth.
Sergakis led the team at the plate, going 2-4 with 3 RBIs. Catcher Jason Scholl went 2-3 with a double and a walk. 2B Mitch Gasbarro went 1-3 and made a great diving play in the eighth inning to get the out.
The Kingfish play the Rox again on Wednesday at historic Simmons Field at 6:35. Festival Foods Zip-Line Elvis Bobble Heads will be given out so make sure to get your tickets now.
