Kenosha Kingfish News Release

Kenosha, Wis. - It's opening week in Wisconsin in the Northwoods League presented by Edvest.

On a muggy, Saturday afternoon at Simmons Field, the Kenosha Kingfish met the Waterloo Bucks on the diamond. Fog rolled in and made it impossible to finish the game in 9 innings, so the game was ended after 5, giving the Kingfish a 2-1 victory.

Derek Heffel took the mound for the Kingfish and made his first start in the Northwoods League. He pitched all 5 innings, allowed just 3 hits, and an unearned run. He was also making batters look foolish all night as he struck out 9.

Offensively, the Kingfish totaled 3 hits. Pete Schuler had the highlight of the night as he belted a homerun to straightaway center field, measuring at over 400 feet. Kian O'Brien and Nick Kanavas each had base hits as well.

The Kingfish will finish their series with Waterloo tomorrow before heading to Kalamazoo on Monday.
