SALISBURY, MD - Lakewood starter Franklyn Kilome (2-7, 4.97) battled through some early game control problems but managed to keep Delmarva at bay as the Shorebirds dropped the series finale 7-1 at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium on Wednesday night.

The Shorebirds (48-35, 6-8) lost their first home series since April 17th and now have a series record of 8-2-2 at home this season.

Yermin Mercedes and Ryan Mountcastle led the offensive attack for Delmarva, tallying four of the team's five hits. Mercedes doubled twice and extended his hitting streak to 12 games, as well as his on base streak to 23 games. Mercedes is hitting .469 (38-81) since June 11, a span of 22 games. He has six home runs, five doubles and 20 RBI during that stretch, bringing his average to .364 on the season - second best in the South Atlantic League.

Josh Tobias and Grenny Cumana torched the Shorebirds all evening. The Lakewood (35-48, 6-8) duo combined to go 7-for-8 with a home run, double, four RBI and three runs scored.

Brian Gonzalez (5-5, 2.72) took the loss in an unusually rough night. He allowed six runs on eight hits in 5.2 innings, with three walks, four strikeouts, a wild pitch that brought home a run, and a hit batter.

The Shorebirds host the Hagerstown Suns over the next four nights while Lakewood returns to New Jersey for a battle with the West Virginia Power. First pitch in Salisbury is scheduled for 7:05 pm. Brendan Gulick will have the broadcast beginning with Shorebirds On-Deck at 6:50 pm on Fox Sports AM 960 and online at theshorebirds.com.
