Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees News Release
ODESSA, Texas- The Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (24-32-6) fell to the Odessa Jackalopes (28-27-6) by a 6-2 score on Saturday night. The Jackalopes raced out to a 6-0 advantage before the Bees would battle back with a pair of strikes. Zak McClellan and Brett Wilson each scored for the Bees while Mark Magnowski recorded an assist for his first point in a Killer Bees uniform.
Much like the night before the Odessa Jackalopes scored the first two goals of the game in the first period as Mark Ehl took a Sebastien Thinel pass and tucked it past Bees netminder Juliano Pagliero.
The Jacks' would increase their lead to two with a shorthanded tally at 10:44 of the first period as Sebastien Thinel and Matt Gens came in two on none while shorthanded. Gens fed the puck across to Thinel who put it past Pagliero who was in the splits.
After one period of play the Bees were outshooting the Jacks' 10-8 despite trailing on the scoreboard 2-0.
Odessa would add a third strike in the second period as Mark Ehl potted his second of the game at the 6:22 mark. Mike Lesperance worked the puck across to Ehl who roofed it top glove side corner against Pagliero.
Odessa would continue the offense scoring three more goals in the third period before the Bees could get one back. Zak McClellen registered a power-play strike, his 23rd goal of the season, after Darcy Campbell skated the puck coast-to-coast up the ice and fed it to McClellan.
Brett Wilson would also find the back of the net for the Bees as Mark Magnowski picked up his first point in a Killer Bees uniform after feeding the puck across the crease to Wilson who tipped it to the back of the net.
The Bees outshot the Odessa Jackalopes for the second straight night but Mike Mole turned away 31 while Pagliero made 21 saves in net.
The Killer Bees waste no time getting back at it taking on the Allen Americans Saturday night in Allen. The puck drops at 7 p.m. and the game can be heard on Real Country 102.1-FM KBUC starting with Killer Bees Countdown at 6:45 p.m. or viewed on CHL-TV. The game can also be viewed on the Texas Channel (Ch. 888 on TimeWarner Cable.)
