Everett Silvertips News Release
EVERETT, Wash. - Defenseman Sahvan Khaira dished a career high three assists and five of his teammates recorded multi point games to help the Everett Silvertips rout the Spokane Chiefs in a 6-2 victory, before 6,044 fans at Spokane Arena on Saturday night in WHL action.
The Tips won for the fourth time in five games and are 6-2-0-0 in their last eight road games, returning to sole possession of first place in the U.S. Division. Dustin Wolf earned second start honors with 23 saves, keeping Spokane off the board for the first 41 minutes of the game. The Tips also buried three power play goals and improved to 5-2-0-0 against U.S. Division opponents this season.
UP NEXT: The Silvertips will enjoy a five-day layoff and next visit the Kamloops Blazers on Friday, Nov. 9 starting at 7 P.M. (1380 AM / 95.3 FM / Tips App / WHL Live) from Sandman Centre. The Tips return home Nov. 14 against Portland at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are available at www.everettsilvertips.com/tickets.
The Tips ripped off three goals in the first period to chase starter Bailey Brkin and claim a 3-0 lead, starting with Connor Dewar's power play goal from between the circles, set up by Riley Sutter's feed from the right half boards. Jackson Berezowski buried his second goal of his career off the rush from the right circle at 13:56, and a Sean Richards slap shot from the left circle chased Brkin for Dawson Weatherill on a power play tally with 3:59 left in the period.
Weatherill fared no better. The Tips tacked on two more in the second period, extending their lead to 4-0 on Dawson Butt's snap shot off the rush from the right wing at 7:35 and then on Martin Fasko-Rudas' re-direction from a Wyatte Wylie point pass with 8:14 left in the period.
Cordel Larson's first career WHL goal broke Wolf's shutout bid on a rebound at the net just 1:13 into the period, but a Gianni Fairbrother one timer from the right circle, deflecting off traffic, put the Tips up 6-1 at 6:19. With the game academic, Carter Chorney buried a shorthanded goal with 1:28 left in regulation to close the scoring.
In net for 43 minutes of action, Weatherill made 13 saves on 16 shots.
